How to create a pink dinosaur party

With dinosaur parties being one of the most popular kids themes for this year, we wanted to share with you our dino-mite ideas and inspiration on how to create your very own dino party!

A fun theme for a child's birthday party is dinosaurs, and it doesn't just have to be for little boys. Our very lovely customer @saralou.brown proved this when she created a wonderful pink dinosaur party for her three-year-old daughter Ida. Follow these tips and tricks for a roaring good time...

Colour scheme

Choosing a colour scheme is an important starting point which will help tie all the different aspects of your party together. Be sure to choose the colours that your little one loves the most. We’re taking inspiration from Ida’s pink dinosaur party, but we have plenty of products available to suit a variety of colour schemes.

Party decorations

Decorations are key to a themed party, helping to set the scene. There is nothing better than seeing the pure excitement on your child's and their guests faces when they see their awesome party set up. We've got lots of decorations and dinosaur ranges to pick from.

Balloons - a party isn't a party without balloons, and this pink balloon cloud is perfect for the theme. Get creative and add palm leaves to the cloud to add to the dinosaur vibe - these palm leaf plates in green and gold will be spot on. Alternatively, venture outside and see what you can find in the garden.

Hanging decorations – these cute dino party hanging cutouts are a must and work brilliantly with a roar ribbon banner. Drape over the party table, stairs or doorway for instant party style.

Scene setters – finding just the right backdrop for your party theme is essential. This is likely to be the place where the majority of your pictures are taken and where wonderful memories will be created. We think this botanical leaf ribbon backdrop is idealFor added excitement, why not add this super realistic Triceratops balloon or walking T-Rex balloon to your scene?

Games and activities

Fun and games form the focus of any kid's party and here a few ideas for keeping everyone entertained...

Dino Dig – Set the kids off on an archaeological adventure to dig for dinosaurs. Fill a sandpit or large container with sand, bury these mini dinosaurs in it and provide the kids with paintbrushes and trowels to uncover them. Lead the way to the buried toys with dinosaur footprint stickers.

Adopt a dinosaur - Set up an 'adopt a dinosaur' table for the cutest parting gift. Fill with scary or cuddly dinosaurs for your little guests to choose from. If you fancy getting more creative make some adoption cards for your party guests to sign – find inspiration here.

Piñata – Go traditional with this fun dinosaur piñata and stick, filled with treats and party favours.

Printables – We've created some free printable dinosaur masks for you and your guests to colour-in. Simply punch some holes and add string. Download here.

Virtual games – Even during the coronavirus pandemic, you can't miss out on party games. Invite friends and set up a Zoom call. Why not try virtual Musical Statues or Grandmother's Footsteps? Read our 'How to Hold a Pre-Schooler's Birthday Party at Home' for more virtual ideas.

Cakes and tableware

Tableware is important, especially for children's parties where there will likely be some splodges and spills. Take a look at this delightful dinosaur party table set. Not only is it biodegradable, but it also means no washing up after all the guests have gone.

Finally, cake! You simply cannot celebrate without one. If, like us, you love to bake then continue the theme and create a colourful dinosaur cake. We love this 3D effort which you can customise to match your colour scheme.
