Hats & Bells Valentines Hearts Recipe

Hats & Bells Valentines Hearts Recipe

These biscuits are so easy to make but with some simple and fun decorating, they look great!  A fun gift to bring into school or share with the family over the weekend (dunked into creamy hot chocolate). Yum!

 Valentines Hearts Recipe

  • 190 g Plain Flour
  • 100g Cocoa Powder
  • 1 Heaped Teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 250 g Caster Sugar
  • 200 g Unsalted Butter
  • 1 egg

  1. Blend the sugar and butter until smooth.  Add the egg and combine.  A food processer will make this easier but a wooden spoon will do the trick.
  2. In a separate bowl combine the sifted flour, cocoa and baking powder.
  3. Bit by Bit add the wet ingredients to the dry to form a soft dough.  (If you have time you can refridgerate the dough for an hour wrapped in clingfilm as it can make it easier to roll out)
  4. Preheat the oven to 180C
  5. Roll the dough out onto a floured surface and cut your heart shapes out.
  6. Place the hearts on a baking tray, not too close as they will expand slightly.
  7. After 12 minutes place the hearts on a cooling tray.
  8. When cool, decorate!
