Elf Movie Party

Elf Movie Party

One of our favourite traditional holiday activities is to have a Christmas Movie marathon. Top of my list is the Elf Movie; and this year to celebrate I planned an entire party around it!

ELF MAIL

Elf clothing inspired invitations were printed and hand delivered to family members. Each one was asked to invite a friend along to the evening events!

WINTER WONDERLAND

As guests arrived, they were tasked with decorating the room just like Buddy did at the department store. This is easily done with white paper, scissors, staples, string and tape. Make paper chains, bunting and snowflakes. One can also find a great selection of elf themed garlands and balloons at Party Pieces.

SILLY SIGNS

Stick up some posters that hint at famous quotes from the movie, the To Do List is especially funny; as is our little stuffed raccoon in need of a hug!

BUDDY THE ELF – WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE COLOUR?

Let everyone discover their inner elf by wearing these Party Pieces mini hats. Afterwards, you can also download our poster so your guests can find out their real Elf Name!

BUDDY’S HAT

Create the perfect centrepieces for the party table by shaping some green felt into a cone shaped cylinder. Trim with a yellow felt band and a red feather. If crafting is not your thing, these Party Pieces felt elf hats will do the trick.

POP STAR

Will Ferrell is the star of the show, so we cut out some mini paper figurines and had him pop out from the sweets or do the splits as a napkin ring around christmassy red paper serviettes!

WATCH OUT!

Another fun moment in the film is Buddy’s near miss with a taxi – so these little paper cabs were made into place cards warning guests about the yellow ones too!

THE MOVIE MENU

The best thing about hosting a movie night is that you can make it very simple. Everyone seems content to watch the movie and munch on popcorn (check out these Party Pieces popcorn boxes) but you could also be inspired by the movie and plan a themed dinner first and add in an activity or two. For our party, we served Spaghetti Bolognese and unlike Buddy kept the candy separate for dessert!

DIY GINGERBREAD HOUSE

Serving as both dessert and an activity in one; guests created mini gingerbread houses and were encouraged to eat from the elf’s four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corn and syrup! Little Gingerbread House paper boxes were used to make up the kits.

PHRASED PARTY BAGS

Last but not least, little gingerbread men shaped chocolates were packaged with cute Elf quotes into these perfect Party Pieces elf favour bags. How awesome are these Elf Crackers, too?!
