After welcoming your new arrival to the world following nine months of pregnancy, understandably your friends and family will be itching to meet the latest addition to your family. Rather than having people coming at different times on different days (often with no warning!) hosting an arrival party open house is a good way to be in control of who comes when as well as getting it over and done with! Featuring pretty pastels and fun illustrations, Patchwork Owl is the perfect choice of tableware and decorations for your event.
Choose a time and date for your open house which will suit both yourself as a parent and your newborn. You could send out a proper invite or as it’s a fairly casual affair a round-robin text or email would do the job. Before guests arrive, decorate with some Patchwork Owl Party Bunting and some co-coordinating stork balloons – pink for a girl and blue for a boy. If you’re going all out some pastel coloured pom poms will look the part.
As people will be coming in throughout the afternoon, serving a cold finger food buffet is best. It also means it is easy to prep in advance. Bite size sandwiches, vegetable crisps and crudités with houmous are great savoury options, for those with a sweet tooth you could make a couple of tray bakes – flapjacks and rocky roads and chop them into bite size pieces. Serve the food on pink or blue serving dishes and have a stack of Patchwork Owl Plates and Napkins ready. Serve cold drinks from Patchwork Owl Cups (little ones will love a Patchwork Owl Straw in their drink!) You could also decorate the table with some Patchwork Owl themed confetti.
You won’t need to plan any activities, everyone will just enjoy having a cuddle with the new arrival, so make sure you’ve got a camera on hand to take lots of pictures of your little one meeting their family, you could sent these pictures out afterwards as a thank you card for any gifts received. However it’s good to have some games or colouring available for those bringing children with them.
