If you’re planning on spoiling Mum this Mother’s Day, where better to start out than with a delicious breakfast. Whether brought to her in bed, or laid out as a spread for the family to enjoy around the table, here are our favourite breakfast ideas to whet your appetite.
Top 5 Breakfast Ideas
1. Loaded Porridge
Loaded porridge is one of our absolute favourites! It is so filling, full of goodness yet feels like a real treat. All you need to do is make porridge as usual and top with Mum’s favourite treats. We love adding banana, walnuts and cocoa powder, but there are so many other options… the only limit is your imagination!
2. Homemade Muesli
Homemade muesli is so easy to make and such a lovely way to start the day. The best bit about it is that you can throw in different variations of fruit and nuts to suit your tastes. We love this recipe over at Nutrition Stripped.
3. Waffles With All The Trimmings
Another simple yet delicious breakfast option to serve Mum on Mother’s Day. Either smother lots of waffles with delicious toppings (Nutella, fresh fruit and maple syrup are some of our favourties) ready for Mum, or why not lay out all the different toppings in pretty bowls so that Mum can discover her own favourite combinations!
4. Luxury Yogurt Pots
Thick and creamy yogurt, layered with honey and homemade granola (we adore this version by Deliciously Ella) is our absolute favourite combination for luxury yogurt pots but, of course, you can use whatever combinations you like. Maple syrup is a delicious alternative to honey and fresh fruit is a lovely addition too! Build and serve the dish in pretty glasses or jam jars for a lovely finishing touch.
5. Fancy Tea
If your Mum doesn’t tend to eat a lot first thing in the morning, that doesn’t mean that you can’t treat her. Why not step away from the standard cuppa and serve her something a little different? There are so many lovely tea variations available (you could have a tea tasting session to pick your favourite!) or, for something completely unique, why not try blending two together? We love a mix of English Breakfast tea and Early Grey!
